Chongqing is located in the confluence of the rivers Yangtze and Jialing. This city is unique in western China that it is directly controlled by the Central Government, not a provincial council. Chongqing is a modern metropolis with a wealth of natural resources such as thick forests and a thriving flora and fauna.

The city attracts both domestic and foreign visitors who mainly sign up for cruises along the Yangtze River. This tour provides stunning views of the Three Gorges, which is one of the major landmarks in all of China. Another interesting attraction in Chongqing is the Dazu Rock Carvings that are estimated to be created during the 9th century and are believed to have been completed throughout the Ming and Qing dynasties. Some 14 kilometres of Chonqing is the ancient Porcelain Village or Ci Qi Kou that has become a rich showcase of handicraft souvenirs.

Chongqing has yet more to offer when it comes to wonderful cultural discoveries. The city’s People’s Assembly Hall, which follows the architectural styles of Ming and Qing dynasties, is a prominent landmark along Renmin Road. The Southern Hot Spring Park, found south of the city, is a cradle for therapeutic hot springs in the area. On the lower reaches of Wulong River, there are several karst landscapes as a visual treat.
