American Airlines can trace its origin to the world’s oldest commercial carrier. It is now the largest world airline, having a youthful fleet in excess of 800 mainly Boeing planes. American Airlines was one of the founder members of the oneworld™ alliance. All its flights to the USA from Singapore are operated as code-shares by other alliance members or code-share partners. Once in the USA passengers are able to take advantage of American Airlines’ very extensive domestic route network to fly to their ultimate destination or to continue onwards on one of its many international flights to Europe, Asia and South America.
American Airlines Economy, Business & First Class
American Airlines offers First and Economy (also known as ‘Coach’) travel on many international and domestic flights with the addition of Business class on some longer-distance international services. Local commuter flights are primarily Economy class only, particularly if operated by one of the low-cost subsidiaries. First and Business classes provide for a very high level of comfort (for example, duvets are provided on 767 and 777 aircraft).
American Airlines Frequent Flyer Program
American Airlines’ frequent flyer club is known as AAdvantage®. Higher membership levels include Gold, Platinum and Executive Platinum. All levels allow members to collect points which can be redeemed against upgrades or free travel. The higher levels provide additional benefits including priority check-in, increased baggage allowances and use of lounges depending upon the level achieved. Points may also be collected and redeemed on alliance-partner services.
